The question I am asked most frequently often can be summarized as, “what is the best diet?”
My answer is very rarely a popular one. The answer never changes… “the best diet is the one that works for you long-term.”
Read that again. Not the one that works quickly. Not the one that melts fat miraculously. Not the one that with this magical pill it happens.
The one that you can SUSTAIN LONG-TERM!
And I know what those of you who know me are thinking.. “you lost your weight super quickly with a fad diet.” You are correct. But, that diet did not work for me long-term. I have had to make so many adjustments, and bounce around so much, that if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn’t choose the one I did.
And herein lies the problem; all diets work! Read that again as well. If you are in a caloric deficit, no matter what type of diet or food you are eating, guess what you will do?? Lose weight!!
But, in my opinion, the best diet is the one that works the best for you. The best diet is the one that where it becomes the healthiest option for you as an individual. The best diet is the one where you get to your goals slower than what you want to (I know, it doesn’t make sense).
The overall goal of nutrition should always be to help you become as healthy as you can possibly be… and health is a long-term investment.
